How To Extend The Life Of Flowers - Riana, Owner Of Cherry Blossom
It’s Mother’s Day this weekend and I have decided to ask Riana from Cherry Blossom to share tips on prolonging the life of fresh flowers.
“I think we can all agree that flowers are the perfect go-to gift for any occasion. Whether they are sent from another person, or you bought them yourself, they bring joy & happiness into the room. A beautiful flower box with vibrant colours & a soothing scent can brighten the mood of any space, they can help create a productive work environment or give a welcoming feel to customers entering a store”
Flowers can be used to communicate emotions & create connections between people. This is what we are all about at Cherry Blossom. Our brand values emotional expression & connection, celebrating life’s beautiful moments and uplifting our spirits during difficult times. There’s something about the feeling you get when someone gifts you a custom arrangement of flowers, knowing the thought & effort that has gone into it is a very special feeling.
We want to extend that feeling for as long as possible so I often get asked “How can I make my flowers last longer”.
Here are 4 of my top tips to extend the life of your flowers;
1. If you are buying from a professional florist your flowers should already be trimmed, however, if you are purchasing store-bought flowers, you must always take them out of the plastic & trim away any dead or dying leaves and cut about 2cm from the stem. By trimming the stem, it allows for fresh water to penetrate through and keep your flowers hydrated.
2. Make sure your vase is clean and use cool, filtered water as tap water contains chemicals which can cause bacteria to grow in the vase.
3. Keeping your flowers in the right place can make a huge difference to the life of your arrangement! Place your flowers in a shaded, cool area that receives indirect sunlight. The colder temperature helps preserve the blooms.
4. Keep your flowers away from fresh fruits & vegetables in the kitchen. Fruit & veg can release ethylene gas which causes your blooms to wither.
Each and every box bloom we create is made with stunning, fresh flowers, tailored to capture your special occasion and personally presented to you with a warm smile that will deliver an unforgettable experience time and time again.
