Colour Prints And Sparkles - Mia Cosette
Earrings are an excellent addition to any stylish outfit. They are a brilliant way to show off personality, add a bit of sparkle, or just round out an already incredible ensemble. Resin, acrylic, and clay are excellent materials for designers and artists to work with when making earrings. We have spoken with Lucia from Mia Cosette how did she come up with an idea making stunning earrings.
MiaCosette was created in 2010 and originates from Colombia.
When I was in high school, I was assigned a four-person group project for my economy class about creating a business. One of the girls in my group had a cousin who was a fashion designer, we went to her workshop and learnt how to make jewellery. The group decided that this should be our project. After this experience I decided to keep making designs and to sell them at school.
When I finished school, I decided to study fashion design at university. I kept selling my jewellery to friends and I used the money I made to study a Master’s degree in fashion styling in Spain.
When I returned to Colombia, I started to work freelance in the fashion industry. My jewellery brand has always been included in this work as it keeps me creative.
I arrived in Australia two years ago and I decided to continue with the brand. However, due to the high cost of materials in comparison to Colombia, I had to try different ways to keep creating jewellery. My solution was to use clay and resin for my designs.
Summer 2021-22 is a collection full of colour, prints and sparkle. After the 2019-2020 pandemic, fashion has changed and has become more colourful. After being at home for so long wearing pyjamas, all we want is colour, mix and match prints, fun and sparkles.
