Design Trends - Ceramic Dinnerware, Elvira McKenzie, Ceramic Artist
As trends come and go and materials fall in and out of favour, one material that never seems to go out of style is ceramic. While they may not always be front and centre, ceramic table accessories can always find a place in the kitchen.
When its time to set the table, ceramic plates and dishes are time-tested in the task of serving food. Plus, they can create an elegant look.
We interviewed my friend Elvira from Elvira McKenzie; what inspires her and I asked her to share her favourite recipe!
‘I love to create an atmosphere at the table when we have friends over, or even just for ourselves. Now that it is almost summer here, we love sitting in our backyard and having dinner there. You don’t need too much on the table, but little things like napkins, fresh flowers, and candles can completely change the vibe. At Christmas, the addition of bonbons and baubles give a great festive feeling.
As well as making some complex salads, I like to prepare some fresh ones. This particular salad recipe I borrowed from my friend. It has rocket, fresh juicy Roma tomatoes, cucumber, a sprinkling of pine nuts, avocado, crumbed feta and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. It is guaranteed to be loved by everyone.
I love serving food in dishes that I make. it is the complete creation. Serving food that I make in pieces that I create is the ultimate satisfaction for me. All my work is inspired by our travels around the beautiful state of Western Australia.
From brilliant-white beaches and crystal-clear azure waters to the red sands of the North and the deep-green forests of the South. I love to try to mimic the landforms and landscapes that I see.
